Gym Rules

Tops & Shirts

  • Full Coverage: Shirts must completely cover the chest, back, and lower torso area.

  • No Exposed Sports Bras: Working out exclusively in a sports bra or exposed undergarments is prohibited.

  • No Inappropriate Graphics: Clothing must not display offensive, crude, racist, or drug-related prints or images.

  • Uniform Adjustments: If you are exercising in an Operational Dress Uniform (ODU), utility coats can typically be removed, but an authorized T-shirt must be worn underneath.

  • Proper Workout Gear Only: Jeans, dress pants, and cargo shorts/pants are strictly banned on the fitness floor.

  • Upholstery Protection: Only standardized athletic shorts, sweatpants, or workout leggings/pants are permitted to prevent zippers, buttons, or rivets from damaging equipment padding.

  • Decency Standards: Shorts must meet basic standards of modesty and decency (overly short or "short shorts" are not permitted).

Bottoms & Pants

  • Athletic Shoes Required: Clean, closed-toe, and closed-heel athletic shoes must be worn at all times.

  • Non-Marking Soles: Shoes used on the basketball or racquetball courts must have non-marking soles to protect the wood floors.

  • No Open-Toed Shoes: Sandals, flip-flops, bare feet, or socks-only training are prohibited on the gym floor (except during designated group classes like yoga).

  • No Boots on Machines: Combat boots are typically banned on treadmills and basketball court surfaces to prevent damage.

Footwear

Safety Restrictions

  • No Sweat-Inducing Garments: Plastic, rubber, or heavy nylon suits designed to artificially induce sweating are prohibited for safety and dehydration reasons.

  • No Gym Bags on the Floor: To prevent tripping hazards around the weights and machines, gym bags must be kept in the locker rooms or lockers rather than brought onto the workout floor.
